the first is that your theory reminded me of &quot;lovemarks,&quot; a book by kevin roberts, ceo of saatchi &amp; saatchi. i never read the book, but the basic idea is to appeal to a consumer&#039;s emotional side to buy their eternal loyalty. you can check out lovemarks.com if you&#039;re interested.

the second thing is how does buying cds and records (and other music-related purchases) fall into your theory? one could argue that having a collection of 100 cds is both functional and emotional, but what about 1,000 cds (including imports, limited-edition reissues, etc. of the *same album*)? what about buying tickets to shows and attending them voraciously? what about buying band t-shirts? or am i just a niche market?
